Of Science In Oriental Medicine Admissions Requirements

Admissions Application: To obtain an Application
Form, call (562) 862-5555
and ask for the Office of Admissions.

Application Fee: One hundred dollars ($50)
is non-refundable.
- Photos:
2 current passport sized photos.
- Educational
Requirements: The program requires the satisfactory
completion of at least two academic years (60 semester
credits/90 quarter credits) of education at the baccalaureate
level that is appropriate preparation for graduate level
work, or the equivalent. Coursework completed at this
level must have a grade of "C", or higher,
or 3.0+ on a 4.0 scale. Coursework is to be completed
from an institution accredited by an agency recognized
by the U.S. Secretary of Education. Applicant must submit
official transcripts from colleges and universities
attended. An official transcript is one that has been
received directly from the issuing institution in a
sealed envelope.
- Foreign
Credential Evaluations: Candidates with foreign
education, or education completed outside of the U.S.,
must submit an official foreign credential evaluation.
Official sealed foreign credential evaluations must
be submitted directly to the College.

Personal Statement: A Personal Statement may
describe personal accomplishments, hardships, or personal
interests and goals.
TOEFL scores (if applicable): For students
entering the MS program, GSU requires English language
competency of all students seeking admission to the
program. This may be satisfied by scoring at least 450
on the Test for English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
or by satisfying any other standards approved in advance
by GSU.

Personal Interview: All applicants are required
to undergo a personal interview with the Dean of Academics.
This allows the Dean to evaluate subjective criteria
that is not revealed on paper. Subjective criteria include
enthusiasm, motivation, passion, sincerity, and emotional
intelligence (EQ). These subjective criteria have shown
to demonstrate strong potential in completing the program
successfully and are ideal.

- Admissions
Portfolio: The Office of Admissions receives
and processes all admissions portfolios. All admission
documents filed to the College become the property of
the College and will not be returned to the student.
- Admissions
Evaluation: After review of the submitted official
transcripts, foreign credential evaluation, documentation
of credit through prior learning, the admissions interview,
and any other admissions factors, the Dean will make
the initial recommendation for acceptance / denial into
the program.
- Personal
Interview: All submitted admissions documents
become property of GSU and shall not be returned to
the applicant.
- Acceptance
/ Denial: If the applicant is accepted for
admissions, an acceptance letter will be sent to the
applicant. If the applicant is not accepted for admissions,
the Office of Admissions will send a letter to the applicant
informing him or her of the decision, stating why his/her
qualifications are deficient.
